Our University was a host for an international consortium meeting, bringing together scientists and entrepreneurs from 14 European countries for the implementation of a project with the acronym FURIOUS. The meeting was organized on June 5-6, 2024, at the Senate Room of our University.
The aim of the project is to develop versatile furan-based polymers for strict and high value applications in packaging, automotive and underwater environments.
The task of the ZUT team, which includes researchers from two Faculties: Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics (dr hab. inż. Anna Szymczyk, prof. ZUT, dr Izabela Irska) and Faculty of Chemical Technology and Engineering (Prof. dr hab. Inż. Mirosława El Fray, dr inż. Ewa Wisniewska, dr inż. Agnieszka Kozlowska) is to scale up the synthesis of poly(butylene furanoate)(PBF) and its copolymers to produce three different prototypes to replace currently used fossil-based polymers with new green PBF materials in medical device packaging, automotive products and underwater sensors.
