The GREEN-MAP project (greenmap.zut.edu.pl), funded by the European Commission, is in the middle of implementation. The project's research concerns the development of innovative biodegradable polymeric materials that could find application in the production of disposable medical devices and medical packaging. The new series of polymers are being synthesized using various raw materials of natural origin, with a special focus on the products of project partner Cargill Bioindustrials. Prof. Miroslawa El Fray and PhD student Martyna Sokołowska are currently conducting polymer research using state-of-the-art SEC/MALS equipment and a rheometer at The Ohio State University in Wooster, OH, USA, a project Third Country Partner (group of prof. Judit Puskas). The end of October is a period of preparation in the US for the popular Halloween holiday, in which our Department of Polymer and Biomaterials Science and Engineering (KIPB) also played a part!
